Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating Rocha’s death, as they do with officer involved shootings. According to the agency, around 2p.m., Rocha approached a 50-year-old man in the Starbucks parking lot located on 1010 North Broadway in Everett. There was an altercation and the man fired a gun multiple times, fatally hitting Rocha. The suspect fled the scene in a dark blue mini cooper. Broadway was closed due to the investigation from 12th Avenue to Tower Street, according to the Snohomish County Response Team. Rocha’s death is being investigated by the Snohomish County multi-agency response team, according to the Everett Police Department. Officials at Everett Community College confirmed they were suspended following reports of a shooting at a nearby Starbucks. The ban has been lifted.
As a precautionary measure, the WSU Everett campus was closed Friday afternoon, WSU tweeted. Everyone was asked to leave the building at 915 N Broadway, but the university said there was no immediate threat to the community.
