Gujarat Gas Leak: Surat Crime Branch Arrests 4 Accused in Chemical Gas Case

Surat : After so far Surat Crime Branch arrested four accused in the case of leakage of chemical gas. Yesterday in the morning at the Sachin GIDC area of Surat, six people have reportedly died and 23 people are still under treatment in the hospital due to chemical gas leakage. Crime Branch arrested 4 accused in Chemical gas leakage case, the previously charged is Prem Sagar Gupta, who maintains a vehicle business, the second is Ashish Kumar Gupta, who works in Baroda, the third is Jai Pratap Tomar, who works at Ankleshwar Bank and, fourth is Vishal Yadav, who runs a carport in Ankleshwar GIDC.

The statement given by police is that the tanker which is filled with chemical gas, came from Ghatkopur, Taloja in Mumbai. This tanker is going to Decent Hotel in Ankleshwar. Prem Sagar Gupta who is one of the four accused, dumped that tanker in the drain of Sachin GIDC area of Surat, because there was no provision for evacuation.

This Prem Sagar Gupta had in the past arrested in connection with prohibition and betting-related cases.  “There are Four more tankers like this have been evacuated in Surat”, this statement is given by the Surat Police Commissioner – Ajay Tomar.

A FIR was enrolled at the Sachin GIDC police station against unidentified people under areas 304 (Punishment for guilty manslaughter not adding up to kill), rash and careless demonstration imperiling human lives (336, 337, and 338), rash and careless demonstration including toxic substance (284), willfully degenerate water of public spring or repository (277), making climate toxic to wellbeing (278), criminal scheme (120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code, and segments of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
